Plenty of job apps will store a compliance certificate. What none of them do is work out which certificate, when it's due, who it goes to and what it costs — from the address of the job. Cross a state line and all four change. Here that's in the data, not in your head.

You can't invoice past a missing certificate
A job that needs a certificate can't be marked invoiced while the certificate is outstanding. Overriding it takes a reason, and the reason is recorded.

We've researched the certificate rules, deadlines and lodgement costs for all eight jurisdictions and written them down. Six aren't switched on yet because two of them need the certificate model changed first, and we'd rather do that once than twice.

Every compliance rule in here carries its source, the date somebody verified it, and — where we couldn't confirm something — the number to ring. Where a state isn't fully verified, the product says so rather than guessing. Software that quietly makes something up about a deadline is worse than software that admits it doesn't know.

The compliance rules in this product come from reading the legislation in every state and territory — which certificate each one requires, when the deadline starts running, who it gets lodged with, and what it costs. Every fact is graded: verified against a primary source, or researched but not yet confirmed. Where there's a gap we've written down who to ring to close it, and the product won't tell you a state is ready until it is.
Those rules move, and faster than you'd think. South Australia's were a fortnight from expiring when we checked them. New South Wales replaced its entire lodgement channel on 1 July. Keeping up with that used to need a compliance department.
